Crimsonland

10tons Ltd, 5 euros

Cimsonland's strengths lie in it's gameplay, which is fast paced but also requires thought and strategy. Pummelling through waves of enemies is incredibly fun when combined with the perk choosing at each level that makes each survival game different.

Unlocking a greater variety of weapons and perks through a campaign mode at first sounds like a roadblock but is actually a fun detour from the core gameplay to tighter more specific challenges that require using weapons/perks in specific situations tailored to them.

The biggest flaw is the visuals, which have aged poorly, being incredibly dull and monotone, specially in the early stages of a round, and even when filled with particles and energy blasts still of low quality. Also excessive blood make the visuals even more of a mess and sometimes can even get in the way of gameplay.

Crimsonland is one of those rare gems that allows your PC to be a local gaming machine, allowing multiple players to join in coop survival an campaign.

Even with its unpleasant visuals, it is a great top-down shooter and knowledge of the perks allows for great strategic planning which is uncommon in basic zombie survival games these days. If on sale it is definitely worth the price.
